On 22 May 2019, with a heavy heart, Montfort College students, faculty and management bid adieu to two of its pillars of constant support – Br. George Padikara, Principal of Sampurna Montfort College and Br. Jacob Ezhanikatt, Prinicpal of Sampurna Institute of Advanced Studies. In the same breath we extended a warm welcome to our former founding Principal, Br Mathew Chulaparambil who will be stepping in as the Principal, Sampurna Institute for advanced studies, Br. Augustine Novello, Financial Administrator and Br. Sebastian Antony Sami, Administrator (in absentia). Among the other special guests were Br. George PJ, the Provincial Superior, Br. Mathew Panathanath, Br. Dhanraj, Dr.Catherine and Seby George.
Sritha Sandon, coordinator, Montfort College, delivered the welcome note, introducing Br. George P. J., Provincial Superior. Br. George P. J. shared a few words about the three vows of religious life – chastity, poverty and obedience. He reflected on Br. George’s journey at Montfort College over a three term period and emphasized that he deserved a much needed break to restore his vigor. Dr.Suryarekha S. V. felicitated Br. George Padikara and Br. Jacob Ezhanikatt. Maxim Pereira, Course Coordinator, Sampurna Institute of Advanced studies welcomed and introduced Br. Mathew Chulaparambil, who shared with us the importance of time and discipline, and the value it adds to our life.
Br. Jacob, as always, expressed his love for all his students and his farewell message could be summarized in Mahatma Gandhi’s quote, “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” The students sang an Acapella song followed by Suryarekha ma’am sharing her fondest memories from being a teacher to Br. George to working with him as a colleague. Students, Aradhna (2nd year, BU) and Roopa (1st year, SIAS), spoke a few words about Br. George and Br. Jacob, and expressed their gratitude for being teachers who held their hand throughout their journey and touched their hearts. The vote of thanks was delivered by, Ashwini Tadpatrikar, Assisstant Professor, Montfort College.
